Middleton Place Plantation Outdoor Program

Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon
Located at the corner of East Bay and Broad Streets, it stands as one of the three most historically significant buildings of Colonial America. Built by the British in 1771 as the Exchange and Custom House, this amazing building has held prisoner pirates and American patriots. Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum
Visit the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Yorktown, World War II's "Fighting Lady". Sewee Visitor & Environmental Education Center
From the Forest to the Sea...your window to the Francis Marion National Forest and the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge. The Sewee Center showcases the unique heritage and natural history of the Lowcountry. Jointly operated by the USDA Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the center exhibits hands-on interpretive displays on the unique and valuable ecosystems of the Forest and Refuge. The Center features a live red wolf education area to increase knowledge and understanding of this endangered species. The South Carolina Birds of Prey host a display of live birds of prey such as eagles, hawks and osprey in an effort to educate visitors about the role birds of prey play in the ecosystems of the Lowcountry. The Center also has information on recreational opportunities available in the Francis Marion Forest such as the Sewee Shell Mound, I'on Interpretive Trails and the Swamp Fox Hiking Trail. Turtle Summer
Every year from May to October, the volunteers of the Isle of Palms/Sullivan's Island Turtle Team work to protect the loggerheads during the nesting cycle. Come join the Turtle Team for a photo journey of the season on our islands!
