With everything that's been going on this year, it can be difficult to keep up with everything happening on the Islands. We've broken down what's new, up and coming, and the trends that we've seen the past few months in our vacation rentals.

Check back every three months to see an updated edition of what's New & Trending on IOP!

Open for Business

The Co-Op that you know and love on Sullivan’s Island has expanded to a second location right here on IOP! Opening Thursday, October 15th, you’ll be able to enjoy handcrafted sandwiches like their California Turkey, their $1 coffee, and of course their famous Frosé! Find them in the Harris Teeter shopping center, diagonal from the Island Realty office.

If you’re staying in one of our homes or condos on Front Beach, the Beachside Community, or even on Dunes Blvd., this spot is within walking distance from your vacation rental! Head on over for your morning coffee, or for drinks later in the afternoon with the girls to enjoy one of their many flavors of Frosé. This is a great addition to the IOP scene that you won’t want to miss!

To follow along the fun, be sure to check out their Instagram too! Their captions are some of the best!

Up and coming

After 450 Pizza Joint vacated their Sullivan’s Island property, plans for a new restaurant, The Longboard, are now underway. The Longboard will be a sister restaurant to Longboard St. John in the US Virgin Islands, and will have an island-inspired menu. The renovation of the location has just begun, and there’s an estimated opening of Spring 2021!

Vacation trends

  • Extended Summer: People are vacationing further into the Fall season than ever before! We’ve seen an average occupancy of 85% since Labor Day, which is a huge increase from 69% in the same timeframe in 2019. With more parents working remotely, and kids learning remotely too, you can be in the office and the classroom right here on the beach!

  • Oceanfront condos: From the Sea Cabins to Port O’ Call, oceanfront condos are always a popular option for couples or small families looking for a view with a smaller price tag. But don’t just take it from us--hear what guests like you had to say about their favorite oceanfront condos!

    • “This is our 2nd trip and this has been a great and convenient getaway (closest beach from Asheville)! It has most of the comforts of home. If you need anything, Harris Teeter as well as local seafood and meat markets are within walking distance. Highly recommended....we'll be back again!”

-Tamara C. (Sea Cabin 233 C)

  • “The condo was very well designed, furnished and conveniently located. The beach was gorgeous-great for walking and enjoying the birds and dolphins.”

-Laura C. (Port O Call A101)

  • “This was a fantastic stay! After being shut in for months, we were so excited to see the band setting up for a concert next door. Kids, parents and grandparents loved the music, the people watching and the awesome oceanfront view- ALL FROM OUR BALCONY. This was a great condo and we will stay here again for sure.”

-Wendy M. (Dunescape 201)

  • Private Homes in Wild Dunes: Wild Dunes, and especially their private homes, provide guests with a peaceful stay away from the traffic along Palm Blvd. The resort offers several amenities such as community pools, a fitness center, restaurants, and more! Here’s what some of our recent guests had to say about their stay in Wild Dunes:

    • We had such a pleasant stay at 13 Sandcrab Court and at Wild Dunes. The house was perfectly sized for us - family with toddler plus in laws - and could have accommodated a few more kids comfortably. Even though it was not "beachfront" - we were surprised just how close and easy the walk was. We would love to stay here again!

-Erin G. (Sandcrab Court 13)

  • We have stayed in several vacation homes in Wild Dunes. This was definitely one of our favorites. We loved the single level living and private pool. The home is furnished so perfectly, with lots of beautiful books and it is coastal but not over the top. The location is directly across the street from the beach and beach access. Having access to the home from either inside the gated Wild Dunes and Palm Blvd. is a major plus for us. We loved it so much that we would have stayed a week or two longer had it not already been booked. We have booked a month in 2021!”

-Donna G. (Dolphin Row 4)

  • “Loved this house! Perfect location, extremely cozy! Everything was top notch!”

-Leigh W. (Pelican Bay 11)
