The SC Governor's Conference: What We Learned

We were so thrilled when we learned this year's South Carolina Governor's Conference on Tourism and Travel would be held right here in Charleston!

The conference, now in its 51st year, takes place in a different location in South Carolina every year and provides an update and overview of tourism in the state.

We spent three days at the conference learning about who is coming to our area, what they're looking for, and how we can better serve them. As your property manager, better serving vacation-home renters means better serving YOU!

Are tourists coming to South Carolina?

Yes! Among other reasons, people are flocking to our state in droves to experience the beautiful beaches, incredible cuisine, top-notch golf courses, endless forms of entertainment, and authentic Southern hospitality.

Did you know that tourism in South Carolina is a $19 billion industry?

$19 billion. And using a long-standing property management firm like Island Realty to manage your vacation rental can help YOU get your fair share of that.

How does Island Realty capitalize on strong SC tourism?

Our revenue specialist works closely with owner representatives and vacation planners to determine the optimal rate for a specific property at a specific time. These rates attract renters while providing you with the highest income possible.

Our marketing department uses time-tested methods, as well as the latest trends and technology, to market your vacation rental to the right potential renters at the right time. By leveraging our own data and attending events like the SC Governor's Conference, we're able to pinpoint who those renters are and exactly what they're looking for in their vacation.

We take that information to better reach renters, but also to help you understand your role and responsibility as an owner. If you already own a vacation rental, we can offer you customized suggestions on how best to decorate and appoint your home to appeal to renters. If you're considering purchasing a home, we can give you hard data that will help guide you towards the properties with the highest ROI. We're happy to consult with you on the phone or in-person!

We also love attending the Governor's Conference because of all the amazing people we meet. At Island Realty we don't just rent vacation homes, we offer an entire vacation experience. Our in-house team of vacation planners and our concierge staff truly learn the needs and desires of every guest and go above and beyond to make recommendations and reservations for anything of interest to the guest. It's service like this that keeps guests booking our properties year after year. At the conference, we were able to meet with dozens of extremely talented vendors and service providers who we will work with to make these opportunities available to guests.

Island Realty takes pride in every staff member knowing our incredible property inventory well. We work together as a team in partnership with you as an owner to find what is unique about your property and make it shine. In one session from the Governor's Conference, leading South Carolina nature tourism experts explained that our state's amazing outdoors is attracting more visitors each year. These visitors are coming to experience not just the beach, but the wildlife in a beach ecosystem, the dolphins in Shem Creek, the birds nesting on Goat Island. By knowing our properties so well, we're able to use information about things like increasing eco-tourism to market our properties differently. For instance, 3825 Goat Island offers sweeping views of the Intracoastal Waterway, allowing you up-close access to some of the Lowcountry's most beautiful shorebirds.

Our promise to you as your property manager is that we will always maintain the integrity of your home, while maximizing your income. By continuing to be on the pulse of all things tourism related in our state, we know we can keep that promise.
