(4/5 stars) Nice house with a large and usable amount of space. It was very quiet overall and it was easy to access a number of public walkways to the beach. The house is a bit dated, the mattresses in particular could use a refresh, with some broken cabinets and light switches, but overall my family and I would stay again. We had some minor maintenance issues and the handyman showed up quickly and fixed all of the issues same day. The house, the bathrooms specifically, was not well cleaned when we arrived. The property management was responsive but just had someone show up to do another surface clean that didn’t address the issue and didn’t clean the bathrooms at all after our request. The pool was in a good location and very usable off the main floor. We love the floor plan, and it works well for our family gathering each year. This year they replaced the living room furniture which was very needed. However, the soft seating in the living room area now is lacking for a house that holds 14. there is dining room seating but those are hard chairs. The mattresses have needed replacing for years and this year even our 17- and 19-year-old grandsons complained about their back hurting. Mattresses should be replaced on all the beds this season. Clean, spacious, and super comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for big family meals, the kids loved their rooms, the pool and the ping pong room. We loved that we could walk or take the golf cart to the beach and dock. Plenty of parking for large vehicles and the elevator made moving luggage easy. Many things were broken, I.e. garbage disposal, toilet paper holder, couch has sent better days, etc. One bed in the twin room was so squeaky. There was a stoppage or something happening with the gutters. There would be a huge waterfall of water every 30 seconds, all night long. Nearly half of us stayed at your place at 14 41st Ave and had a great time! This place was super beautiful home, family friendly, great location, very clean, plenty of space, comfortable beds, great game room home away from home. Booking and checking in/out were simple, beach access was great, amenities were good with a few issues: - Not even close to enough bath, beach towels and washcloths - 2nd floor bathroom tub clogged and took hours to completely drain - Kitchen main gas oven was out of service which was only mentioned to us the day before we arrived - Couple of complaints about the small coffee pot - Little to no dishrags and kitchen towels - Right side garage door needs maintenance (hard to open) We are a resourceful group, so none of the above were showstoppers and while we respected the ‘no parties’ rule, we had some parking issues that could’ve been handled through simple conversation, but an annoying neighbor decided to call police and code enforcement. The officers had some mixed information regarding parking, but were very polite and only had to tell us once. We were also told by code enforcement that there were usually resident parking permits available for guests to be able to park across the street. We weren’t told about nor given any of these permits. Ubers are a bit hard to come by if you want to go to Charleston, but the house is so gorgeous, you might not want to leave! We eat in the whole week so having a large kitchen, 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, well equipped is wonderful. While the stove has 6 burners they are all on high, could not adjust so that was tricky. We have a disabled family member so need the elevator but he was unable to use his power chair because the the elevator was not deep enough; his manual chair barely fit. The pool is small but no one minded. Separate living area was great for the teenagers. We brought our family here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary for the week. We were only two blocks from the beach access. Our family went to the beach every day. The house has an elevator which accommodated my husbands lack of mobility. We had a couple little things we needed attended to but the realty company was right on top of it. With 13 adults, (all kids over 17) we did not feel cramped. Great location!! Easy walk to the beach and marina. The roof top deck was awesome too. (5/5 stars) The pictures do not do this house justice. It is much nicer and updated in person than the pictures portray. We stayed with 12 adults and had plenty of room. It was very close to the beach access. One toilet was not working upon arrival, and the maintenance staff was quick to resolve the issues. The house was a short 5 minute walk to the beach and did come with a few chairs which was great since we flew in from out of town. The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped with plenty of cooking needs. The house also included some basics like salt/pepper, TP, paper towels, dish soap, sponge and coffee filters. The rest of the downstairs has a great layout with a big table where we sat 8 comfortably and plenty of seating in the living room area to watch TV with comfortable couches. The upstairs was only used by two couples and the bedrooms were on opposite sides which was great for privacy. The master bathrooms were very spacious and I had no problems with the water pressure. The beds were decent but no bed will ever beat your bed at home so I recommend being open minded.I think the best thing was the openness of the house. Even the stairways were very wide. The house has wood floors throughout and you can tell that it is very well built. House was clean and we had plenty of space to spread out. Enjoyed having the pool within sight of kitchen, dining, and living space for easy observation of kids in the pool. It was a quick walk to the beach and the marina. The kitchen is well-stocked and that's where we all ended up each evening. (4/5 stars) We really liked the house and the location. The biggest disappointment was that we could not use the pool because it was so cold. They would not give us access to the pool heater. It had a lock on it and the manager said "it was not advertised as a heated pool". This is accurate but was very disappointing to my family. The pool was one of the reasons we selected this property. Lesson learned to ask more questions. We would have gladly paid extra for the heat! The house was big and nice. We had to purchase paper products and ask for more towels. We had two families and the layout of the house worked well. The kids loved the ping pong room. Unfortunately, the house was not very clean, chips on the floor, sand all over the back deck, hair in the shower etc. The pool was also filled with sand and debris and the water was freezing. Most disturbing was the huge stain on the king mattress upstairs (they tried to cover it with a mattress pad but the pad was shredded) and we didn't realize it until we took the sheets off before we left. We loved the little pool right out the back door and that each bedroom had its own bathroom. The kitchen was spacious with 2 dishwashers & 2 ovens. The eating area was also large and allowed easy movement.Though there were some maintenance issues, there was nothing that inconvenienced us and Island Reality responded VERY quickly. Very spacious kitchen, living, dining area, additional 2nd floor living area, a basement ping pong room plus 6 bedrooms & 6 bathrooms spread out across 2 floors allowed our family of 7 adults plus two under 3 to all enjoy the home together while also having the ability to have a lot of privacy. Easy 5-10 minute walk to the beach & nice half mile walk the opposite direction to the marina with restaurant & shopping. Very clean & nicely decorated - very comfy beds & couch. Great table we were able to seat 12 at when relatives visited. Pool was a bit small, but refreshing for a quick dip & well maintained. Kitchen was well stocked with more than enough silver, glasses, dishes, pots & pans etc. Great house! The bedding in all rooms is very basic and not what you would expect for a house that rents for this price. The bathrooms were clean, but the house was not spotless. We had to clean ourselves a few days. The pool was great. The ping pong room was dirty and not useable in the Summer. The kitchen is beautiful, but lacks utensils, cookware and a blender, which is not what you would expect for the expense house.
