This ground level duplex is one level (no stairs), and is conveniently located within close proximity to the beach and to Breach Inlet. The upstairs unit is not a rental, and is reserved exclusively for occasional family use. The front porch features an enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water. A private and spacious screened porch can be found along the back of the house, complete with a gas grill and furniture for outdoor dining and relaxing. The washer and dryer are behind louvered doors on the screened porch. The kitchen hosts stainless appliances and granite counter tops. All three bedrooms and the living room, has a flat-screen cable TV. Wi-Fi and Linens Included. Please no smoking, and no pets. Vehicle Capacity: 3 Beach Renourishment Notice: This section of the island will be undergoing a beach renourishment project from November through end of December 2026. This important restoration effort helps preserve and protect our beaches for years to come. (4/5 stars) The big benefit of this house is its proximity to the beach - about a 5-7 minute walk. So easy and convenient! The house itself is not a luxury rental but the bed was very comfortable and we had a great stay. Note that the primary bedroom shares a bath - we were alone but that would have been a dealbreaker otherwise. Also, no one was in the unit upstairs, luckily, which also would have been a bummer. Two small maintenance issues--some little black insects in bathroom 2 coming out of leaky faucet/drain perhaps? And a wasp nest over the entrance to the outdoor shower. We alerted maintenance to both. A/C worked great, everything clean as a pin. We love the kitchen/dining room and living room layout as well as the screened porch (in spite of the screen being broken in places and allowing mosquitoes in) The proximity to the beach and the nice neighborhood have made it one of our go-to spots on IOP for several years. This last visit, however, we did have a few issues. When we arrived, we noticed several grain flies throughout the house. On our last day, we pulled back the shower curtain in one of the bathrooms and discovered dozens of flies in the bathtub. We also found dead flies stuck to towels. This could easily be resolved by pouring some bleach down the drains. The next issue is the dishwasher. Our first load of dishes did not get clean because the door had not opened to dispense the soap, so we had to run it a second time. When making dinner the first evening of our trip, we also discovered three disgusting dinner plates that had been put away in the cabinet with large chunks of food still on the bottom. And on our last day, one of the living room chairs collapsed and we found that one of the legs was broken and appeared to have been propped under the chair, creating a hazard. We did send photos of all of the above to maintenance and received a text with an apology. It is our hope that they will address these problems because this is otherwise a nice place to stay. The house is perfect for our family of 5 since the 2 older kids could have their own bedrooms. Veryclose to beach, a short walk to a few shops and restaurants and easy access to either bridge for farther ventures. The outside shower is handy and always a feature I like to have at a beach house. The grill and screened in porch was used daily, though with such humid weather it was hard to dry out damp towel in this area. Handy full size laundry in this area also. Home has many kitchen utensils and dishes, almost to many since there was not an empty cabinet to put any food in. We left all our items on the counter. Some basic items like salt, pepper, sugar a few spices would be handier than a tea set. Refrigerator makes lots of ice! Cold drinks a plenty. An upgrade to the common room TV really is a must! Even at the beach we would have like to watch a movie in the evening on a BIGGER screen. The bedroom TVs are small computer monitors we never bothered to even try them. The large dining table worked well for meals and cards we brought. Games would be nice too. There were a few puzzles and I think scrabble but we didn’t want to sit outside to do a puzzle in the heat and were eating at the other table. It’s best feature is location. Has plenty of parking, closet and drawer space. There were a couple of old beach chairs but no sand toys or umbrella. Recommend the Acme Low Country Kitchen and Spread Bagelry in Mt Pleasant. The location was perfect for accessing shopping, dining, sightseeing, and the beach (a 5 minute walk). We had plenty of room (4 adults), a well equipped kitchen, full size washer and dryer, and a cozy area to watch tv, play games (provided), and entertain friends. We had a small maintenance problem, but once reported, it was quickly addressed. All in all, a memorable trip in a fabulous location!
