Each family had not only a bedroom, but a private bathroom. AND there was plenty of space for everyone to be together!!! It was a real plus for us to have a fridge on both levels as it saved multiple trips to the grocery store. As the washer and dryer are located on the first floor, I would recommend adding shelving to the upstairs laundry area to have pantry space. For a family like ours who cooked a lot, there is no good place for pantry items. Even though the property was on a keyless entry they required you stop at the real estate office to pick up the code. The first floor AC was inadequate. No beach towels or chairs were provided, not to mention even a basic beach game or deck of cards. Beds were comfortable, sufficient bathroom and kitchen supplies. There was plenty of seating on the two porches as well as for eating together inside the house. There are two full kitchens in the house but we only used the one on the upper level. The house was beautiful, well kept and clean. The house is updated and feels newly renovated. The two separate spaces were great for our crew of girls and we even had room for more. The house is spacious and has a great layout. We loved the two decks, one on each floor. The house is steps from the beach and a short uber ride to other parts of Charleston. I do recommend the early risers to sleep downstairs as you do hear the footsteps from the floor above. This house was great and I would definitely consider renting it again. We loved the proximity to the beach as well proximity to other activities. It was convenient to get everywhere from this end of the Island. The house was well stocked and spacious with a lovely porch which allowed us to linger over coffee while our grandchildren played. The only thing I would recommend is if you want to sleep in go ahead and take the top floor and let the early risers have first access to the porch, errands or outings as there is not a separate entrance/exit. Although we enjoyed the potter patter of little feet it might cut short some needed zzzz’s for night owls. Both kitchens were well equipped and we had absolutely everything we needed. Also, the laundry is downstairs of that helps. The only suggestion I would have is an extra set of sheets be available on each floor for the queen beds. The rental looks exactly like its pictures, and as others have mentioned, it's in a perfect location. Location is closer to Sullivan's Island, less than a block to beach access, and surrounded by beautiful homes. My son rented a golf cart and the younger guests enjoyed riding the golf cart around the neighborhood, to the Boathouse for dinner, and to the bars in IOP. We got a text around 2p from Island Realty that our rental was ready early so that was great! Island Rental was very helpful from the start with all my questions.The rental is very clean and well maintained. The house does not have any beach chairs, umbrellas or bikes so plan to rent or bring your own. Also, there isn't anything in the house other than some dishwasher detergent and a new sponge so plan accordingly. You need all your condiments, coffee filters, extra toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, etc. I pre-ordered from Harris Teeter and picked up Saturday night. Big mistake, traffic on the IOP connector is horrible on the weekend so get your groceries delivered. Plus, as another review mentioned, bring your own blow dryer as well. We had 12 sets of bath towels with the rental but we did bring our own beach towels. We all enjoyed sitting out on the porches when it wasn't too humid. We went to Shems Creek several times and ate at Salt Water Cowboy twice. Food was decent but we liked watching the boats along the creek, especially the shrimp boats coming back in. I think everyone's favorite activity, other then the beach, was driving into Charleston and the beautiful neighborhoods in Mt. Pleasant. Our biggest criticism is the limited usefulness of the wonderful porches (which were a selling point for us - until we saw them) The lower porch had only 2 high chairs. So as the occupants of the lower level we were never able to utilize that porch to our satisfaction. Additionally, there was no way to secure the porch - no screens, etc. So could not leave anything out there. The upper porch was much better furnished - but not sufficient for our needs. Combined the 2 kitchens were very well-equipped. However, not equally equipped. My husband and I took the downstairs and gave the upstairs to my daughter and her friends. Everyone had their own space. Both floors have nice kitchens with all appliances, big TV with comfy sectional, two bedrooms, two baths. We were very suprised at how nice the interior was. Usually, rentals have ugly, cheap furniture where it doesn't matter if it gets ruined by renters. But this home had very nice furniture and accessories! It must have been renovated recently because all the bathrooms and kitchens looked new. Porch furniture upstairs is great, but for the first floor, there's not much. (Only two uncomfortable "director's chairs" and a round metal coffee table.) But that's the only negative...and it really didn't bother us anyway. The home is in a quiet residential area w/ short walk to the beach. Just a heads up: there's only a starter supply of paper products, and there were no cleaning supplies. I would recommend that you pack the following, or plan to purchase when there:* countertop cleaner* tall kitchen garbage bags (they provide 2)* basket coffee filters (10 cup)* aluminum foil/plastic wrap for food storage* toilet paper (one roll per bathroom provided)* paper towels (one roll per floor provided)* laundry soap if needed* paper napkins (impossible to find at the store)* scrub brush to wash veggies or clean dishes* your own shampoo & soap* beach towels (all other linens provided)* skirt hangers if neededOne other thing to keep in mind. Check-in is NOT necessarily 4:00 pm. They will let you know when the house is ready. They gave us a 30-minute window of 4:45 - 5:15 but house wasn't ready until 5:30. Close to a very nice part of the IOP beach stip. Close to all the great restaurants on Sullivan's. Air conditioning worked great, always nice when you visit the beach in August! Only one minor negative--I would suggest the owner's upgrade their internet speed--it really isn't fast enough to run multiple devices. - Anonymous Posted on 9/16/2019 ### Great location and perfect for two families! (5/5 stars) We rented the house for our family and a friends family and the layout is perfect. We were the first to stay after the remodel and the landscaping was still being put in but the house itself provided what we needed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchens well stocked with everything we needed to cook. The location is great with a 5 minute or less walk to the beach. My family really enjoyed the location of the beach with alot of sea creatures at low tide just a short walk up the beach (star fish, dolphins, hermit crabs and more). Only thing we missed was a closed-in outdoor shower and maybe that will come it is currently there but open with no privacy to shower after the beach. - Anonymous Posted on 7/29/2019 ### We love the blue house! (4/5 stars) This is the 4th time we have stayed in this house. We have stayed in other houses on the island the past 3 summers, but agreed none met our needs like the "blue house". We like the location, the arrangement of the rooms in the house and this year we found out improvements had been made to the porches, floors and appliances. We agreed we will rent this house again next year. The four bedrooms are similar and each has its own bathroom which is great for my husband and me and our 3 sons and their families. It is great for a large family like us. We also like the Chrleston Blvd end of the island. The beach is less crowded and it is easy to drive over to Sullivans Island or Mt. Pleasant and Charleston. The house at 311 Charleston Blvd. was perfect for our family. We had a great time just being together and eating at RB's, Poe's Tavern, Vickery's, Page's Okra Grill, Fleet Landing, and Sullivan's. Enjoyed walking on the beach, seeing The Citadel's Friday parade, visiting The Citadel's gift shop, playing at Blackbeard's Cove, and much more. House was big and the porches were perfect.The kitchen was a bit lacking in equipment, but that's common for rentals. (5/5 stars) Loved the house, very homey and liveable. Everything was "gently" used but very clean and perfect for our needs. Great location on Isle of Palms.
