The location is great if you like to ho out to eat in Charleston. We timed our trip before the beach replenish starts but still had beach access. The location of this condo is perfect. The condo needs some minor repairs but overall was good for a few days. The kitchen is stocked well. Overall, it was clean and beds were comfortable. All cloth furniture is stained. The door to the patio needs replacing. My mother injured her hand opening. The dryer needs replacing. Glass doors to balcony slide open/shut with considerable difficulty. Glass is fogged disrupting an otherwise nice view of pool/ocean. Sofa and loveseat are old, dingy, and stained. No pillows. Floor felt gritty on arrival. Vacuum cleaner would pick up debris but the bag was overflowing. Handle on front screen door continually works loose. It is a shame Island Realty has not corrected issues with this unit. Sofa and loveseat are dingy and dirty with stains. Sliding glass door is rusted and minimally functional. Floors seemed dirty in unit. Vacuum worked but dirt came out from the bag making running it senseless. Only one trash bag for kitchen container and only one set of towels per person for the week. It also would have been nice to have a starter set for coffee pot, so you wouldn’t have to shop until following day after traveling. It began when I opened the screen door and saw the rusted, paint peeled sad front door. When I entered it appeared to be very sparsely decorated with cheap furniture. The glass dining room table was full of scratches and I immediately put a blanket on the couch because I didn’t want to sit on it The blanket I retrieved from the closet had a huge round stain at least 10 inches wide. The paint was peeling of the walls and the base boards, the sliding glass door to the patio was so hard to open and loud, which brought you out to the patio with the hardest plastic chairs and table. I know we had to bring our own amenities, but there wasn’t even so much as a salt shaker there. The neighbor next door was renovating and the hammering lasted most of the work day. Had one designated parking spot and plenty of guest spots to choose from. Wild Dunes overall was great. Actually more than what we needed for my husband and myself. We wanted a getaway during my chemotherapy break and chose this lovely oceanfront complex. It was clean but need some updates particularly in the bathrooms. The kitchen really needed better pots and pans and utensils for those that cook in some during vacation. The pool is convenient and quiet. Our unit was on the second floor and therefore we had 3 flights of steps to the front door and then the master bedroom was on the second floor. Exhausting for me and also for my husband when carrying luggage and groceries and coolers. There was no cable tv in the unit and Netflix would not stay connected. The layout of the condos and amenities (eg pool, outdoor grilling area) is great and the proximity to the beach is exceptional. There is a considerable amount of deferred maintenance, however, that needs to be addressed. There was rotting wood everywhere. The door to our unit was scarred and in serious need of paint. Temps was a little cooler than we would have liked. The unit was nice. Beds were comfortable and we had all the basics needed and lots of stuff in the kitchen we did not use. The unit could stand with an update in the bathrooms but it was very functional and useable. The outdoor furniture on the deck will need to be replaced after this season. The item I think needs the most attention is the lighting in the living/eating area. At night this was dim when trying to play games at the table.The points I have brought out was nothing that we needed to call and fixed and it was probably very adequate for most everyone. The walk to the beach was great and close and the pool was nice as well. The unit itself is okay. The bathrooms are small. The king bathroom's sliding shower door was off track and water didn't drain out fast enough. There wasn't even salt and pepper in the cabinets. It was basically clean, not sparkling clean but ok. There was a slightly run down feeling. The view from king matter was of the ocean the other rooms were of the grounds. I haven't stayed on the island before so I don't know if this is typical for the price. I had read other reviews so I wad prepared not to find a really great place. Its a quiet and relaxing atmosphere always .A wonderful place for family gatherings . - Anonymous Posted on 8/7/2017 ### Island Realty Give You A True 'Open Door' Policy (3/5 stars) Upon occupying the property, we discover the front door latch would not engage. A simple push on the door, and you were in. This has apparently been an issue in the past as the wood on the door frame where the latch engages showed that extensive work had been performed in the past. We called the maintenance phone number shortly after arrival and a repairman was dispatched in a couple of hours. The damage was so extensive he was unable to fix the problem and said a carpenter would be required which then reported to the maintenance office. To his credit, he went to Lowe's and got us a hook latch to secure the screen door to the door frame. By mid-afternoon the next day, no one had shown up to perform the permanent fix, so we again call Island Realty's maintenance number. We finally were told someone would be there between 4 and 5 pm. He arrived around 6pm when the family was soon to leave for dinner. He did successfully install screws into the door frame to tighten it up enough for the door latch to engage and hold when locked. However, I suspect a moderate kick to the door could bust it in. Despite expressing disappointment over the lack of security for this property, something I think renters highly value, Island Realty offered only minimal concern and no compensation. For example, after describing the situation upon check-out, we were told the property manager would give us a call. The dryer did not work, a "hidden" note was found stating it did not work which was found AFTER washing laundry and attempting to get dryer to work. Housekeeping was quick to bring additional towels but no other laundry could be done during the week. The iron did not work.
