We have been coming to IOP for nearly 20 years. We enjoy bringing our family here and always have a great time making memories. The last time we stayed in 107 was in 2015. Unfortunately, there have not been any updates to paint, furniture, mattresses or the Washer and Dryer, which has to be at least 20 years old if not older. It has always taken at least 2-3 cycles to get clothes to dry. I realize there is humidity but we have not had this problem in other condos. This trip, it wouldn’t dry at all. We reported it on Tuesday and received a quick reply that a maintenance man would be there in the afternoon. Instead, we received a message that the Maintenance recommended Appliance Repair. A service appointment was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. They showed up and said it can’t be repaired. We went the entire week without a dryer. This is unacceptable when you are renting a high priced Condo on the beach. The owner knows there are going to be wet bathing suits, beach towels, etc. We are also aware there is a rule not to hang clothes on the balcony. There was no further communication from Island Realty. No apology. I admit, we chose this Condo because of its fantastic location and did not look at reviews but assumed updates would have been made. We were surprised they weren’t. I read the reviews on the way home. The ocean front view is stunning and the lay out of the bedrooms allows for privacy while the common area accommodates family time together. Kitchen is fully stocked, and we enjoyed eating meals on the balcony while while gazing at the Atlantic Ocean. This was likely the one with the most potential but is really starting to to show its age. Its location, size, wonderful layout, but definitely in need of some TLC. Sectional couch cushions are ready for the trash, rugs are very stained, and the entire place could use fresh paint. The unit was clean-ish, it just felt dirty because everything looked so worn and stained. Not worth a premium charge, during peak times, until it’s updated. I understand it’s a rental but, at some point, you have to keep it looking nice and clean. Renters don’t require fancy, just nice and clean. Close to everything, steps from balcony right to the pool. Restaurants, bars, coffee all in walking distance. The only negative were the doors. In the kitchen, the fridge door would slam into the wall if you didn't hold it. Most kitchen cabinets did the same. In the master, the closet door wouldn't shut and would open on its own, the bathroom door wouldn't shut because it was warped and jammed into the frame. If it wasn't for that, the place us perfect. The condo had ample room for my mother-in-law to move around with her walker and the walk-in shower in the master bath was fantastic for the two of them. The kitchen in the condo was very well appointed with ample dishes and pots and pans for us to cook many meals over the course of the two months we were there. The third bedroom and bath was perfect for our daughter when she can to stay with us for three weeks. The cable and WiFi access was great, I was able to work remotely and we watched many sports events and other shows we liked. The balcony was spectacular, we spent many days sitting out there watching the ocean as the view is the best. The access to the beach was perfect with easy walking for our parents. The smoke parking in the underground garage was perfect and we loved having carts available when we came back with groceries to get them up in the elevator to the condo. Make sure you ask for early checkin. The girl at the front desk was able to check with housekeeping to see if our condo was ready and it was. We were on the 1st floor with good views however we were directly over the pool,luckily this time of year the pool wasn't used much. The beach is beautiful. The views of sunrise and sunset are amazing. IOPizza across the street has excellent pizza! Highly recommend it. We did need to uber into Charleston for sightseeing but if you're ok to have a quiet relaxing week away at the beach this is your place. Basics such as dishwasher, oven and dryer all suffer from age issues. Overall the unit is charming but these equipment shortcomings creat a less than satisfactory rental. Updating is mandatory if this is to become an asset to Island Realty.For our December stay the broken ( not to be used) elevator didn’t help. Having outlined the unit issues we still need to say that the island Realty maintenance staff were outstanding in their responses and help. Our rental representative was also helpful and understanding which we very much appreciate.We love this Isle of Palms location. We’ve appreciated our multiple rentals from Island Realty. Received prompt replies from the office. However, the air conditioning did not work in the master bedroom. We had to sleep with the door open, a box fan in the doorway and still could not sleep from lack of cool air. It was miserable. The maintenance worker was sent promptly but told us it was an issue with the ductwork. The ceiling around many of the vents looked patched and one of the vents was on the floor with blue duct tape when we arrived. Handle on the microwave was broken and there were a few stains on the carpets. Some of the glasses in the cabinet looked unclean. We had family living in Charleston who tried to come visit us and couldn't get into our area because the streets were closed. So, don't go on a busy weekend because they close the road off that goes to your condo! My family of 5 (parents and 3 kids) stayed in this 3 bedroom condo ( ocean Blvd. 1140 #107) for Labor day week. The complex is right in the middle of shops, bars and restaurants, so unless you are going into Charleston you can park your car and walk everywhere. Even to the grocery store and fish market.This unit has three bedrooms and 3 baths. It is big and was more than enough room for our family. The back deck was awesome and we loved sitting out there in the mornings having coffee & cocktails in the evenings. The unit was cleaned but I would suggest that the owners deep clean the carpets in the bedroom or better yet remove the carpet all together. Due to Covid I did my own cleaning & lysol-ing before we touched anything. The kitchen is big and very well equipped. Master bed was comfy and I loved the renovated master bathroom. I had seen another review regarding the washer & dryer and they are older, but worked ok.When I booked I was hoping for a unit that was higher up for a better view. However I'm glad we ended up on the first floor. We had a good view but the beautiful thing was the direct access from our balcony to the pool & beach. It made it easy with the kid and all our gear. The only negative thing about being right in front of the pool was the RUDE guest who did NOT observe the pool hours & woke us up one morning at 7am (kids screaming in the pool). The building has a private gated boardwalk to the beach that keeps out non-guest. Beach was super crowded for a few days but other times was great. We rented our chairs & umbrella ahead of time so every morning it was set up by 9 and our place on the beach was saved.We did have an issue with the internet. Island Realty sent someone over & they fixed it ASAP. My overall experience dealing with Island Realty was great. We have used them several times and its always been a good experience. The location of the condo is ideal; we parked the car for the week and walked everywhere. The beach is beautiful and easily reached. The pool is in need of some work, but the pool cleaner came everyday andthe water was clear and fresh. (A few guests were a little piggy but I guess they forgot to bring the butler or mom) The unit was laid out well and there have been upgrades to the appliances, baths and furniture. Cleanliness was an issue. Linens were clean, but the overall housekeeping was not good. Kitchen surfaces were wiped, but not clean. Stove top was wiped but not clean. The clothes washer was so bad it was unusable. The floors had not been thoroughly vacuumed and the deck was not swept. The deck furniture desperately need replacing -- rusted and uncomfortable. Rockers need a coat of paint. We have rented this unit many times in the past and we do love it. The owners need to know the cleaning service is not delivering the service they are being paid to do. We do recommend this rental and have confidence that the housekeeping issues will be corrected. This was the favorite condo of the four among the consensus of our family group. The colors and decorations were bright and happy. Master bedroom had a good bed and chair, the second bedroom was a true queen but did need a new mattress which I know is hard to keep up with, and then we prefer two twins over bunk beds and these were very nice twins. Loved how the bathrooms were private. The only complaint we had was that the outdoor furniture wasn’t comfortable. We realize outdoor furniture is hard to keep at the beach with the saltwater but the rocking chairs weren’t comfortable and need to be replaced. We wanted to be able to walk to restaurants and there were several within a couple of blocks. Our condo had a view of the ocean even though we were on the first floor. It was furnished nicely and the kitchen was well equipped except for a blender. We used the smoothie maker for our margaritas but they weren't too frozen. (1/5 stars) It started poorly when we weren't able to get the keys to our condo until an hour after check-in time from the Island Reality office. So, we sat in the parking lot for over an hour, waiting. When we finally got into our condo, it was filthy. The floor had not been swept or mopped. There was sand, dust bunnies and someone else's food crumbs all over. The fridge was despicable! Inside looked like it hadn't been wiped in weeks AND the housekeeper left her cooler full of foods from the prior guests.There was dried old food on the counters and walls. There was urine on the master toilet and along the floor. I was angry and disgusted. Of course I called housekeeping and of course no one answered. I left a message but no one ever called back. Ever!Then there were the roaches. I know there are roaches in SC. But this is the first place I have seen them inside. We called about that also and they said they would send the exterminator in two days. Then they called us to say maintenance would stop by to spray a bit until the exterminator could come. The maintenance boy came, could hardly speak or comprehend English, and just sprayed a bit on the back balcony. The exterminator never came!We paid $4,500 for a week to live in someone else's filth and surrounded by roaches as we slept. And Island Reality didn't care or even try to help. They already had our money I suppose. Oh, the cleaning tag left on the sink was dated 3 weeks prior to our check in. I think they threw some clean towels and hopefully clean sheets on and called it done. I've actually never been so upset or grossed out on a vacation and I've been on many. So, I will never stay here again and I will never rent from Island Reality again. (4/5 stars) We loved our stay in IOP at 1140 Ocean Blvd. It was a great space with perfect pool access and a great view of the ocean. We had four adults and two kids there and everyone slept comfortably. Our only concerns were that the internet access was spotty and there were some rooms that were quite dusty and perhaps hadn't been vacuumed. (5/5 stars) This was our 4th year in that particular condo. It seems to fit our needs quite well. Plus it is pet friendly which is important to us. The staff when checking in are quite personable and friendly. There were a few problems we noticed as the previous renters did not have them attended to. Two bedroom doors needed fixing . There were pet stains on two bedroom carpets which I hold the receptionist about. Wanted them to know it was not caused by us.
