We absolutely love the location and the house. Very convenient to everything. The kitchen was remodeled a couple of years ago. That was a nice surprise. Now some other things could use attention. The back door knob barely works and the gate off of the deck need some repairs.All in all it is a great property and Island Realty does a good job with the reservations. Between then and now this home needs updates. Most all the items in the kitchen had to be rewashed. Food on-dishes and cups. Our back doorknob was broken when we walked in. The full house needs painting, carpets are dirty, apostrophe dirty, broken chair on the deck. These are expensive homes for one week rentals and should be clean and safe. We never felt air coming from duct work in bedrooms. We called maintenance twice and they did respond quickly. But work could not be replaced, just doorknob screwed back on.. we reposted the electrical work last time but no updates were completed. We love the location but the owners need to update this property. It was also nicely cleaned before our arrival. However, there was a very strong mildew and mold smell in the house and visible mold growing on the bathroom ceiling, around several AC vents, along the top of the windowsill in the living room, the upstairs forward facing bedroom has a squishy wall under the windows, etc. The kitchen had an extremely strong mildew smell and visible old water damage near the dishwasher. I took some pictures that I will send to Island Realty so they can hopefully address it for future guests. Plenty of space (4/5 stars) This house is in a great location. Right on the beach, couldn’t be any better! Outside of the house is maintained daily. Inside could use some updating. Furniture is old and living room chairs were very uncomfortable. Beds could use new comforters, pillows and extra blankets. The deck is lovely but all the cushions were old and in terrible condition. It wouldn’t take much to refresh this house. Kitchen supply’s were outstanding! We had to request hangers for the closets, there are 4 bedrooms and maybe a dozen hangers. They were brought to us immediately. The A/C wasn’t cooling as well as we thought it should. We were warm every night and finally it just stopped working on the 5th day. A maintenance person was sent immediately and it was fixed. We went back to the office to arrange rental of chairs and umbrella and the staff had that done in two minutes. The weather this year was beautiful. The house is getting a little worn - the screen door in the upstairs bedroom kept falling off. The icemaker was broken. Unfortunately no windows could be opened (other than doors and sliding glass doors) because they were painted shut, and since the weather was really warm we could have used more ventilation. Also, needed an umbrella on the deck (that sun was hot!). All minor details. The cul-de-sac make it great for our children to ride their bikes and my daughter learned to ride without training wheels directly on the beach. What a great memory!
