It did not meet the standard that I am accustomed to. The unit was shabby, peeling paint on cabinets, only superficially clean, ROACHES in the kitchen (including the fridge) and bath, and intermittently functioning cable tv. Tony from maintenance was pleasant and helpful. He sprayed for bugs and temporarily got the cable working.Keri setup her Netflix account so I could watch some TV. I am very appreciative to both Tony and Keri. Island Realty, you need to step up your game as far as housekeeping and maintenance goes. The easy access to the beach and the bonus pier highlighted our relaxing vacation. The unit could use some updating in the kitchen cabinets and stove. There was an area of peeling wall in the bunk beds area that still remains from the spring. It would be nice to have a TV in the bedroom. The exterior of the building, including the decking and stairs, needs a complete renovation. There is lots of patches and old wood. The parking lot entrance side to the pool area was flooded from a rain storm and remained for a few days limiting the availability of parking. The lot should be angled more to allow for drainage. You can’t beat the location, patios, quiet environment and easy access to the beach. The administration is very helpful, and checking in is easy. The beach is only a few steps away, and there is plenty of parking. There are restaurants in walking distance, but the city of Charleston can also be reached quickly by car. We had issues with little bugs all over the place, especially the bathroom. We could put our luggage on the floor as I was not going to bring anything home. The a/c quit working. Every morning we were awoke around 7:30-8am with excessive banging and construction work. One morning we were awoke by someone banging on our door. Apparently it was the a/c people but no one notified us of anyone coming or expecting anything. I feel as thought the communication was very poor on that part. We didn’t get to relax the whole trip due to never getting to fully sleep in or enjoy our stay. This isn’t what we expected. I do know next time I would rather stay in a hotel than go through that again. I will not be using this travel company ever again. The description was accurate. The only complaint that I have is the mattress. It was really old and I had read the review from last year from a former customer of yours that had said the same thing, but I was thinking that it would have been replaced. I didn't understand the bunk beds in the middle of the walk in entrance-how do you get in the top one? There was no privacy, but there were only 2 of us and we used it to place our luggage and shopping bags. Having the private fishing pier was amazing to us. The beaches were packed with people, but not the pier. It was in a great location, had easy access to the beach with a nice private peer. We could walk to all of the local spots and the layout of the condo worked for our family of four (2 adults, 2 infant and 1 toddler). The condo itself was older but had everything we needed. For the price it was great. The beds however were not comfortable and the bedding was worn and needs to be replaced. Overall the condo was not very clean upon entry (gritty floors - maybe to be expected for the beach, dusty in corners, stains on comforters and blankets in closets and the door of the refrigerator). All of this was easy to overlook due to the other good features but it is an easy fix to make this condo more appealing. (1/5 stars) After two days on the road, exhausted, I was greeted by some strangers pubic hair inside my "clean" sheets. EEEWWWWWW!!! The place STUNK like dirty bodies. The filth smell permeated everything. The bedding, the furniture, the air. The front door to refrigerator and freezer were grossly rusted. The bunk mattresses and carpet wreaked of URINE smell! The hall light in the breezeway was on all night shining through the plate glass window into the bedroom. Glare. I don't care how close this place is to the beach - DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! Even after taking my priceless vacation time to scrub with Lysol, the smell would not go away! This place shouldn't be a dump, for what money I paid them, but it definitely was a dive. I've staying in cleaner acommodations in third world countries. I would give zero stars if possible. The fridge was rusted on outside door but was very clean on inside. Just older unit that looks good in the picture but not in person. The one bedroom, however, is constantly too bright. There's only blinds, no curtains, and the hallway light is on all night. And the sun shines directly into the room at dawn. We ended up sleeping on the pull out couch. Great location, responsive management company, cleanliness, pier and beach almost at your doorstep. Well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture in LR. There was a problem with the bathroom exhaust which was replaced after a two day wait. The emergency lighting--always on--cast a wide beam of light on the side of the bed closest to the exterior wall and the translucent blinds did not help---impossible to sleep!! The friendly maintenance guy hung a blanket over the curtain rod and that fixed it. But better blinds and/or a heavier curtain is needed. The bed moves and the headboard bangs the wall with the slightest movement. So one cannot get out of bed without disturbing the other. Put grab bars in the shower. (4/5 stars) Great location with a private pier and beach access. Parking was easy. Unit was clean upon arrival, and having a full kitchen was a plus. The only real drawback was the beds weren't very comfortable (bedroom, sofa bed, & bunks). But we were there for the location and that part was perfect. We had a late arrival and I called Island Realty and the gentleman I spoke to was very nice and explained what I needed to do. We have rented from Island Realty before and always have a great experience I loved this condo and enjoyed our stay here. Been going IOP since I was born. Have rented a sea cabin for years. Has always been a pleasant stay. I did call this time because dishes were put up dirty with grease & food on them. Do not like to report an unpleasant experience but did feel that this should be reported. I said to staff that it would have been easy to have not noticed this because the large dishes were under some smaller clean ones. I did run the dishwasher with all dishes & silverware (always clean these anyway before use). The rest of the cabin was very clean & we enjoyed our stay. It just put a little damper on our 4 day stay. We usually rent for a week. It was our second stay there and while the condo was small, it didn't matter as we spent most time at the pool and beach. It was a easy booking process and checkout. We were missing a set of sheets for the bunk beds and they were delivered promptly within hours of calling. We have been coming to Isle of Palms and staying in the Sea Cabins for several years. We had a wonderful time, as usual. The linens could have been cleaner, but we always bring extra anyway.
