(5/5 stars) We enjoy staying at the Sea Cabins due to the close access to the beach/pier, price compared to bigger condos, and distance from the noise of the restaurants/stores further down on the strip. Our cabin was PERFECT for two people. We are bigger people and the recent renovations allowing a King size (and very comfy) bed was what initially drew me to this room! We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and the overall cleanliness. I appreciated the extra storage and desk in the bedroom...it allowed me to finish getting ready leaving the bathroom available for hubby to shower and get around. (I think the mirror was meant to cover the fuse box, but it needs to stay on the desk!) This cabin is right next to a back stairway with access to a small parking area which was very convenient! The two things I thought of (if I was an owner) would be that instead of a couch, I’d put two recliners, and I would have liked a full length mirror somewhere on a wall or door. I know taking out the pullout couch would reduce the number of people you can accommodate in the room, but it’s just my personal preference. Thanks for a great stay. Also, 6 folks are allowed to stay , but there is only seating for 3 at the little kitchen counter. The stools are quite uncomfortable.I guess you could eat while sitting on the comfy sofa. The decor is very nice.The entry is quite convenient to the parking,but the dumpsters outside the door are loudly emptied VERY early every other morning. The BRIGHT lights in the parking area shine directly into the bedroom, which is at the entry door. This is a very nice unit, clean and bright and very well decorated, it was renovated in Aug 2024. It is different from others because it has a bedroom right as you come in the front door and it has a king bed. My husband is 6'2" and thinks that the couch is very comfortable for sleeping (not as a sofa bed, but just sleeping on it as it is). The kitchen is very well stocked. The bathroom is great, it has a step in shower with no tub. We have been coming to Sea Cabins for 5+ years and have stayed at many of the units. This one is our favorite. (3/5 stars) Our original room was the second one in from the ocean and had a decent view (over the berm) from the balcony and the front door. Unfortunately the A/C didn't work so they moved us to another room further inland and the view was mostly parking lot and dumpster from the front door. Didn't like it much. Proximity to the beach is nice but the units are very small. And noisy in the unit they moved us to closer to the street!! Trucks, trucks, trucks!! Customer service was top notch, though. We prefer more ocean view from the second level.Flew down from Canada, so no car. But, we knew we could walk to basic needs: grocery, restaurants, etc. Uber driver was great when required.Our condo had plenty of kitchen equipment. Balcony had four chairs!Only a couple things: LR carpet needed shampooing. BR window needed better coverage as outside night light shone onto our pillows. Lastly,the sofa cushions were too soft for us seniors. Not complaining... no snow or ice here. I had fun sketching and writing poetry when not enjoying pier or beach walks! We were surprised that the view from this condo was still decent, with the ocean often n view along with the pier. We liked that the condo still has carpet in the living area (most have gone to vinyl etc.) The bed and sofa are beginning to age, so that would be a recommendation from us (to upgrade). Also, it would really be nice if high chairs were part of the balcony, since it is on the first floor. This is the first year that we have stayed in this unit. It was very convenient to the fishing pier, beach access and pool. It being close to the steps made it very easy to carry all of our stuff into the room. While the unit was clean, it definitely needs a little love. The textured ceiling was coming down in the living room as well as the bathroom and kitchen. The faceplate was missing on the plug next to the refrigerator. Needs paint and caulk in the kitchen along the counter tops. Bathroom has recently had some work done and is in good shape with the exception of the ceiling. The carpet in the living room also needs to be cleaned or replaced. We stayed there 5 years ago and the towel rack was broken then and it still wasn't fixed. It could use some updating for the price that they are charging. I wouldn't stay there again unless it was updated. We were very pleased with the location of the condo which we rented, and the location of the beach. We would recommend a few minor things which need to be done to make this condo top-notch. The bedroom needs darkening blinds so the light by the door does not shine through all night. Areas in the ceilings around the vents need some help - they look old. We loved everything else about the condo - location, price, and wonderful things around! The winter rate was excellant. Location is perfect for vacation or business. You will pay a little more for things at resturants because its a vacation spot. But over all location is great. The unit I am in could use a little upgrading, but its not too bad. It was mostly clean. Supplied somewhat less than what we needed. For example, not enough silverware for a family of 4. Extremely small. The entire property has a view of the parking lot. The best view is from the coin operated laundry. Property not maintained as we are accustomed to; a pile of lawn refuse was piled up the entire stay taking away from much what would have been more convenient parking. There should be steps from the deck to the parking lot so that you don't have to go all the way around. - Anonymous Posted on 10/19/2016 ### 1st stay @ the Sea Cabins (1/5 stars) Nice location however I was unable to get any sleep in the bed as the post had security lighting directly over the bedroom window and the room had transparent flimsy blinds that did not block the light. When letting maintenance and staff made aware of this matter after the 1st night; they said they would do something. Location and convenience of Sea Cabins is great, the view and parking were good,but 113A was such a disappointment. The unit was not clean, the furniture was worn out, the bed and pullout were terrible, dishwasher and disposal didn't work, broken blinds, and not enough towels. Property was clean and relatively comfortable but it is old and very basic (as in, not a lot of utensils, no hair dryer, bare bones furniture). Unit was not equipped as well as previous units have been.The blinds were broken in the living room and bedroom. We had to cover the bedroom window with a beach towel to keep the light out and privacy. The bathroom fan did not work. (5/5 stars) From the moment we checked in we were in love! The rental office was the greatest and eager to tell us all the island had to offer. This rental is very clean, right next to the ocean, has its own private pool and pier, and allows for short stays such as a long weekend, which is what we were there for. The kids loved the built in bunk beds! The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need, we made all our meals and had no need to go out to eat. The master bed is very comfortable with super soft sheets. An added benefit is the key-less entry which means you never worry about locking yourself out or losing your room key at the beach. There is a side road, Hungryneck Blvd that puts you just down by the Hwy 17 bridge in minutes without any traffic making Charleston a quick jaunt from IOP. It was a perfect Father's Day getaway! We will definitely be coming back! - Anonymous Posted on 6/25/2015 ### Wonderful stay at Sea Cabins (4/5 stars) We were pleased with our stay at the Sea Cabins. The quick walk to the beach made for an easy trip with our toddler, and while unit was on the ground floor, it still afforded a glimpse of the ocean from the balcony. The unit itself was clean and adequate in size for 3 of us. My only complaint is that there were only 3 spoons in the drawer, which meant we had to do dishes after each meal at home, and unfortunately the dishwasher in the unit was broken so we hand washed for the week we were there. - Anonymous Posted on 6/1/2015 ### Excellent location and very comfortable. (4/5 stars) The Island of Palms (IOP) sea cabins are in a wonderful location. Close to the beach and local IOP restaurants. They were clean, quite and very comfortable. Impressed with the amount of kitchen utensils and cookware. Beds were comfortable. (4/5 stars) The wall in our bathroom was in need of repair.
