Our unit overlooked the spacious pool and beach/ocean beyond. Two spacious bedrooms, the master had terrace access, a large kitchen/dining/living room combo and 2 well sized bathrooms. Under unit parking and an elevator to bring our things up was very convenient. I would have given them 5 stars but they had no beach chairs, towels, etc. and the kitchen was not equipped with basic seasonings for cooking in the unit. (Hurricane Helene washed out the normal route between Tennessee and North Carolina, which made our travel interesting.) However, we couldn't have been more pleased with our condo, with Wild Dunes, and with IOP. Our only issue is with conflicting expectations for checkout. We received numerous messages, and the info in the check-in packet was very clear, but the list posted in the condo was different, and the last message had info that wasn't in the others (re: bed linens). I don't think it was a big deal, but all communication should match. We had left for home the evening prior to our checkout day and didn't receive the last message until we were already 2 hours way to fix it at that point. We couldn't get the wifi to work on any of our streaming services for more than 10 minutes before we were bumped off. We tried everything to get a stronger signal, including taking all of our mobile devices off the wifi, rebooting the Roku remotes/sticks and then rebooting the wifi system. None of the TVs would pick up and hodl the signal. There are no hairdryers in any bathrooms. Renters should know that the washer/dryer are mini-size, not full-size. The lock on the living room slider door to the balcony keeps locking. Maintenance fixed it once but it locked up again. About a week into our stay at the condo we rented at Port O Call we experienced an afternoon fire at our rental while we were out at the pool. We heard the sirens, but didn't think anything of it not knowing that the fire was in our unit. I called Island Realty and explained the situation to the front desk and was told to get back in contact with them after the firemen had finished putting it out. I was given Aine O'Brien's phone number and called her back after learning that there was smoke damage and a wall torn out in the unit to get to the root of the fire and the condo was uninhabitable. Fortunately the only things that we lost were a pair of Sketchers and a pair of slippers. Aine came out immediately after I called her back and said that she had relocated us to Shipwatch and texted us the info to get in. After a few hours of packing up the car we moved into C 316.The property was very nice! It had a great view of the ocean and chairs to sit out on the balcony overlooking the pool, a comfortable bed, large shower with plenty of hot water, a well stocked kitchen, very clean, and plenty of room for us. We enjoyed our stay at Shipwatch and particularly Aine's quick response to our circumstances and generous credit to offset the losses we incurred. I don't know what would have happened if we had booked with a VRBO or AirBnb but I don't think that the result would have been the same. The furniture is very dated and the mattresses were very soft and uncomfortable. The condo has a musty smell throughout. When we arrived we had an issue with a clogged sink in the main bedroom. The washer and dryer broke in the first of two weeks we were there. Island Realty did pick up and wash our laundry three times. The best part of the condo was the view of the beach and pool. The pool in the complex wasn’t very clean. The complex doesn’t allow golf carts which was a bummer. We would not recommend this unit at this time. The view of the ocean was nice and the walk to the beach was easy. The only complaint was the lack of comfort in the guest bedroom. When we arrived, Island Realty said they will keep us posted about the hurricane and they did both frequently by email and phone. With the hurricane approaching, they were great about answering the phone and our questions. Island Realty could not have been more helpful or compassionate about helping us after the hurricane with a partial refund. I will always go to Island Realty directly for my beach rental!!! They have wonderful, friendly employees and I love supporting a locally owned company. Thank you Island Realty for handling the Mandatory Evacuation so well. - Anonymous Posted on 10/8/2018 ### Shipwatch 316 C (5/5 stars) we had a great week in this great unit / it was very clean and updated in most areas with a nice deck and good furniture all aroundbeds comfortable and clean / I especially appreciated the raised toilet in the hall bathroom and would suggest a tall one but put in the master bedroom soon / its so much easier for a person in their 60-70s / my one suggestion would be to replace the carpet in the master bedroom as it is very dated and worn - not badly - in places and needs a better more refreshing color (lighter) // the weather was great and unlike last year there were NO black flies on the beach which basically kept us off the beach last year same time / the humidity was also very low even at temps in the mid 80s/ nice unit and a good time and close to Harris Teeter to get groceries or a mile walk to the Boardwalk Inn for an adult beverage in the evening/ again we would definitely rent this unit again - nice living room and kitchen with plenty of silver and cooking pots too /and maintenance was quick to reset a dishwasher problem and explain to me how to use the CD player - thanks to Mike for his recommendation of this unit! I chalked it up to it being the week of the 4th of July, but I still was not happy. We paid a considerable sum and would expect to have a place to park. The unit we rented was very nice. Located in a gated community with security. We have stayed at Ship Watch before and truly enjoyed our stay. The condo was well stocked and perfect for our stay. Who can complain when you can open the deck doors in the morning and listen to the ocean. We were right on the beach and enjoyed daily walks. (5/5 stars) We gad a great tune as always on IOP. Rena did a terrific joy as always selecting just the right place for us. The Unit was clean and up to date.
