For the last 25 years, we have stayed there mostly except when they were having elevator problems and other issues. The Unit is always clean and has mostly everything we needed. But, there was only 1 juice glass; maybe the other ones were broken. I always do a load of dishes as soon as we arrive. All the glass appeared dusty. Had plenty of other cook wear. (5/5 stars) We are a retired couple and spent the month of February in this condo. It was clean, well decorated, and well stocked. We made most of our meals in the condo and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to work in. The view of the pool and ocean is fantastic but the sun only hits the balcony for about 3 hrs in the morning. That would be great in summer but not as nice in winter months. Beds were very comfortable. Lots of closet and storage space and had beach toys and beach chairs available to use. Our sons and families visited while we were there and appreciated all the beach toys, games, and books available for use.This condo is on the 4th floor so it was nice having an elevator to move in and out and bring in groceries. Island Reality is very nice to work with. The only recommendations I would suggest are removing the glass doors on spare bathroom shower as they kept going off the track and it's hard to get by the toilet to bathe toddlers. Shower curtain would work better. Also would suggest a chain lock on the outside door. There was no way to lock the door from inside to keep young children from opening door and wandering out. IOP beach is a great beach for walking and this condo has a lovely pool for use in warmer weather. Unfortunately, the sofa was the same old sofa with little support. The area rug in the family room was filthy dirty 3 years ago and was worse this year. The mattress on the bed in the master bedroom is excellent. (We didn’t use the second bedroom.)The kitchen is very well setup for cooking. We had everything we needed and easily cooked dinner every night.The view of the ocean is fabulous. We enjoyed watching the sunrise from the balcony. Access to the beach is easy with the boardwalk to the dunes.The construction noise was not bothersome and did not interfere with our very relaxing vacation.I would absolutely recommend 405 Summerhouse to friends and relatives. It is a very clean and well maintained property. The photos are accurate.We toured Charleston several time, visiting the highlights of the city, including the Dock Street Theater in the French Quarter, and Robert Lange Studio. We also visited Magnolia Cemetery to see the USS Hunley Memorial and the giant Roseate Spoonbills, the Giant Wood Storks and Night Herons. We have been staying in this unit for 20 or more years. We typically visit twice a year. The new owners did an excellent job with the renovations. It was nice to finally have a TV in the secondary bedroom. We look forward to returning to island in 2022 if we can afford it. The rental price for this unit increased by around a $1000.00 dollars for the week versus what we have been paying. I would like for the owners to consider changing the weekly rentals during the Summer months to Saturday to Saturday. It's hard for people that have to travel a long distance and return back to work on Monday with a Sunday to Sunday rental. The place was exactly as described. I would stay here again. My only complaint was the garbage situation. Great views of the ocean and the pool. We have stayed in 405 for at least 10 years and we usually visit the island twice a year. The condo is starting to show some age. The Bed spreads and furniture in the living room could use some updating. The kitchen utensils, pots and pans etc. are starting to disappear. Overall this is a nice unit and we plan to visit again later this year. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable beds. The beach has awesome sea shells and great ocean view. There is soft sand, as in knee deep sand holes that we fell in to so walking to the ocean was a tricky situation, however it didn't bother us much. The beach was quiet. Perfect getaway if you want to relax. The condo was spacious enough for 4 adults and two children. The kitchen was well stocked with the exception of plastic cups for children. Parking was good.The washer and dryer were nice but the dryer did take a long time to dry even small loads. We were sure to clean the vent screen each time but it did not make a difference.The only other issue we had was the lack of TV/DVD player in the bedroom with two beds and the lack of DVD player in the living room or internet available TVs in any of the rooms. We brought DVDs for the family to watch but could not as there was no player in the living room. Also the master bedroom tv could only view what was watched in the living room. The description indicated the unit had a blow dryer but upon arrival there was none so we had to buy one.Beach access was good and the pool was nice. The house was comfortable and the beds were great. The kitchen was fully stock except for dish soap and dishwashing soap(so be prepared) which caused us to have to go to the store(~15 minutes away) shortly after arriving. The condo was clean except for the dishes/glasses. Cons: The pots/pans are scratched up and the bed pillows were stained yellow - need to be replaced. The condo was very clean with a great view and perfect location. Fully equipped with kitchen equipment to playing cards to beach chairs and beach toys. Perfect place to just sit on the beach and relax or travel out to dinner in Charleston or over to the marina to kayak or jet ski. We had beautiful weather. We typically visit the Isle of Palms and stay in Summerhouse 405 twice a year. We use to stay in 408 when they used Island Realty as their rental agent. We have been renting through Island Realty for probably 20 years or so.The building on the outside is starting to show some age. Some additional umbrellas need to be purchased for the pool area. The unit could use a little freshning up. We plan to rent it again in 2017. It's our home away from home. Love the Island and the staff at Island Realty. I must say however, that in my opinion the unit was not very clean. On the first day we found dry cat food and hair on the floor in the Master bedroom. Beautiful view and location. Beach was clean and quiet. A few more small amenities would go a long way. 1-2 dishwasher packs for example. Shampoo/ conditioner samples. Maintenance team was friendly and responsive when an overhead lightbulb went out. The first night, I got up to use the bathroom and a HUGE 3 inch cockroach was sitting on the counter top. He went down the sink drain and I pour 2 tea kettles of boiling water down the drain;never saw it again! We told you last year about the terrible mattress; very lumpy and uncomfortable; sure needs replacing.
