Where to Wednesday: Great Spots to Fish on Vacation

Not only does the Charleston area as well as Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island offer beautiful views of the beach and historical buildings and monuments, but the coastal region offers a lot to do, especially on the water! Whether you are staying in a sea cabin or in an oceanfront home, the area offers great fishing opportunities. Located in the Island Realty lobby, you can find up to date tide table charts – take one with you so you can know when high and low tide are!

If you are looking to go fishing on a boat, we recommend using Marsh View Fishing Charters and Barrier Island Eco Tours for your fishing needs. Whether you are trying to do some inshore or offshore fishing, give our friends a call for their assistance! It will be an excursion that your friends and family will enjoy!

One of the many perks at staying in the Sea Cabins during your visit is the access to the private fishing pier. From the pier you can see Sullivan's Island and Morris Island. You can use up to 2 fishing poles per person.

During your stay, check out the Breach Inlet Bridge. This bridge connects Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. It is free to fish and has available parking spaces. There are cat walks on each side of the bridge where you can set up your fishing gear. Known for the spot to catch large flounder, this is a popular spot to enjoy fishing while taking in the incredible view.

Don't forget to take advantage of the beach and enjoy surf fishing while you are on vacation. It is best to fish on the beach during the morning or evening when there aren't many people on the beach just yet!

Head over the bridge to Mount Pleasant to fish at the Pitt Street Bridge or also known as the Cove Inlet Bridge! Located in Old Village, the wooden pier was built in 1898. It was originally a trolley bridge to connect Sullivan's Island and Mount Pleasant. This area is a cross between a park and a bridge, so it's perfect for a couple of different occasions. There is access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Charleston Harbor. From the bridge, you will see the beautiful Arthur Ravenel Bridge as well as Fort Sumter, the Sullivan's Island Lighthouse and the Ben Sawyer Bridge.  Parking and admission to the park is free and it's dog-friendly!

The Mount Pleasant Pier is located right under the Arthur Ravenel Bridge...talking about a beautiful view! The pier is 1250 feet long and a fishing pass or daily pass is required. The hours do vary depending on the season you are visiting. If you don't have any fishing gear with you, not a problem! The pier will rent out rods for $10! Dogs are not permitted in this area.

Pricing for the daily pass:

  • $5 Adults
  • $3 Seniors 60+ and children under 12 years old
  • $4 Active Military
  • $4/per person for group of 10 or more

Pricing for fishing pass:
