We stayed for a short weekday trip while also visiting colleges. We have stayed at the Isle of Palms over 20+ times over the years but never in the Wild Dunes. The house itself is quite large, with 4 good sized bedrooms. The main bedroom, on the first floor, has a very nice walk in closet and an updated bathroom. The kitchen is updated but the living room, while nice, is small for a house that sleeps this many quests, only a small sofa and love seat and two extra chairs. While we enjoyed our short stay it seems like the house needed a good deep cleaning and also some touchups. Someone said it was dated and I would agree, in that the kitchen floor needs sanding and redoing, and I would recommend newer furniture on the decks. The nicest deck was off the upstairs bedrooms as it had nice comfy rockers, the others looked like an after thought. The biggest issue for us was the sofa and love seat. It was covered in stains and was really not useable as they were large and really quiet disgusting. We notified Island Realty right away and they did have someone come out and clean it, though they could not come until our second day. Either the guests before us made a huge mess on them or they didn't notify them, either way the cleaning crew should have seen this and taken care of it. We had to send photos and the stains were very large. However, Island Realty were very responsive and nice and they handled it very well. We also had issues with some of the blankets on the bed being stained too. The outside shower was not easy to access and did not look like the photos at all as it was dingy and had trash in it! Overall I think the cleaning crew needs to be better, the kitchen table was dirty, the kitchen island was sticky in places and it didn't even look like they dusted on some surfaces. As for Wild Dunes, it is very pretty with lots of biking and walking paths but it is not for us, as it was crowded. Beach access is 59th and it was very crowded due to the hotels/condos there, which is not what we like. We also did not use the pools but that is not something we typically do. We did find street parking though as it is a 15-20 minute walk to the beach otherwise. The house also is on a busier street and while there is a nice view of the canal there are no blinds/curtains on the two large front doors, so if you wanted to watch TV the glare came in and then at night someone could look in from the street. Overall the house served it's purpose as it was a last minute short getaway and we weren't really in the house most of the time. However, we have stayed at nicer properties on the island that were more modern and taken care off. This has the look of a gently used rental if that makes sense. We probably would not stay here again for a variety of reason but I think with some updating and better cleaning it has potential.

House is good. Good size and comfy beds. 15 min walk to beach
However there are a few points that should be noted-
Very basic toiletries provided Bring your own
Nothing in kitchen - no salt, pepper, condiments.
For a house of this cost a basic starter pack should be expected - coffee, tea, sugar, creamer packets, laundry detergent.
Also no beach towels or chairs which would be expected as most people staying here are flying in from out if state so can't bring.
We had a few maintenance issues and they were very quick to respond.
Lots of lightbulbs not working.

This home is much larger than it looks! With 4 bedrooms and five beds, plus a couch and a trundle bed, my family of three along with my sister's family of four had more than enough room. I read other reviews that said things looked outdated (I disagree, maybe they've been updated since those reviews) and that the kitchen was bare bones (which i also didnt agree with) and that the wifi was bad (i was there for a work conference so i was constantly online and my husband works remotely so he was as well - but we had ZERO issues and were there for six days) so i am so happy i went with my gut and reserved this home. It is walking distance to the beach, pool, tennis courts, etc. I also LOVED seeing the turtles and alligators in the lagoon, as well as the lizards roaming around outside. The decks are spacious, lot of natural light and windows, beautiful.

Great location along the bike trail (literally) and quiet at night while only being a 5 minute bike ride to the beach. We've stayed in IOP on multiple occasions at various locations, each place having their own advantages. 5827 was perfect for beach time without the price of being on the beach. House was clean, but tired. Exactly what I would expect from a rental property. Beds were stiff and the house needs updating, but again it was clean and provided everything we needed. Just needs a little TLC. Minor things were broken, ceiling fan at the front porch, shelves in refrigerator, chipped coffee mugs, etc.. otherwise well appointed and worth the price.

Great house, would rent again. Convenient location and lots of room for a family of five. Minor suggestion - would suggest that the locks on house get changed out to keyless/digital, very difficult to lock and unlock. Also, its inconvenient to have to go by the rental office to pickup and dropoff keys. Also the cooking pans/sheets need to be repurchased, hard to clean because they are too worn. There should be instructions on how to use the thermostat...its digital and we figured it out but it just so happened to conk out when we arrived. Maintenance fixed very quickly after a phone call. We also had a fam member leave wallet and it was recovered and returned.

Overall, this house was nice and in a good location but it wasn't ideal for our family and we likely wouldn't rent again.

Pros
- Spacious rooms and tastefully decorated
- Adequate towels and linens provided
- Comfortable furniture and beds
- Nice washer and dryer

Cons
- Non-refundable booking without cancellation option
- You have to check in and out at the Island Realty office
- House has a lot of wear and tear and is showing its age
- Only two full baths and upstairs bath needs to be renovated
- Master bath has mold and mildew in shower, missing grout, shower bench loose and faucets loose
- Downstairs A/C did not keep the house cool

We enjoyed our 5 nights. The home had plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 kids. The kitchen was well stoked with tools, utensils, pots, etc. It was a comfortable beach rental home. The cleanliness could be improved especially the bathrooms - lots of grim so a little icky for kid baths.. The upstairs shower plumbing is confusing to turn on and no instructions were provided. Finally, it would be useful to provide paper towels and toilet paper - just add it into the pricing.

We had a wonderful week in this lovely home. There is plenty of space for ten guests. We were all very comfortable. It’s close to the beach, only about a half a mile away. We rented a golf cart from a local business and this helped with the travel to and from the beach or just riding around the resort. We were very pleased with the home and look forward to staying there again!

We had a nice 4 day weekend and spent it in this lovely home. The living room is one of, if no the, most comfortable we have stayed in. I appreciate that because when I have some time off, I like to be lazy at night and a lot of peoples living rooms are lame and not comfy like this one. I will be renting again.

This house was in a great location and overall we had a great stay celebrating my son's first birthday. It could have used a deep clean and a fresh coat of paint would go a long way. The outside wasn't clean at all. There's a golf cart in the garage with a busted tire. Access to the golf cart would be a great asset to the home since you're not close enough to the beach to walk.

Thank you so much for your comments. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We perform deep cleans before and after every season and there are plans to paint the entire house at the end of the season. This home used to have access to a Wild Dunes sports card, which allowed guests to pay for access to the pool. Unfortunately wild dunes does not offer that any more so there is no longer access to a pool at this time. The golf cart is the owners personal property and letting guests use is too much of a liability. There are a number of companies which we work with that allow you to rent them during your stay if you so wish to do so in the future.

House in great location and perfect size for our family. The icemaker wasn't working upon arrival. Maintenace came quickly to repair. We did have issue with dishwasher not opening soap dispenser and we were unable to find light for outside steps. Overall a very nice place to stay. Would stay there again. Thank you for sharing this home with us!!

We recently returned from 4 wks. @5827 Back Bay Dr. & found the house to be spacious and well suited to our needs. The location was both convenient to amenities & had very nice exposure to the Spring sunshine. We were a little disappointed in the very limited cable TV options but otherwise were very happy with our extended stay. We would look forward to staying there again,

My family completely enjoyed staying at the Back Bay Drive rental. The home was stocked well with kitchen utensils for cooking in. The location for a Wild Dunes stay cannot be beat as it is close to the beach, the pools, and golf course. There is no need to drive when you get there.

We vacationed here in March, this is a Home away from Home. It is very welcoming, very comfy and clean, the home is decorated beautifully, the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals. Great location and it was nice to have access to a a private beach for my grand children to play.
