The property has easy access to the beach and is ideally located. However, this property has many shortcomings that made our stay less than ideal. First, the property is split into an upstairs and downstairs apartment, but there is only one air conditioning unit cooling both spaces. Therefore, the downstairs was icy while the upstairs was warmer. Furthermore, when we arrived at the house, the entire house was very hot and would not cool down. We called Island Realty, and they sent a repairman who rudely stated “There’s nothing to do, there’s only one unit, everyone is suffering right now.” The air conditioning remained an issue the entire week – some rooms cooled down, and the other room with the twin beds remained hot. A guest needed to sleep on the couch in the main room for the first two nights because of the AC. Second, there is a severe lack of amenities in the house. For a house that accommodates 8 to 10 guests, we were only provided with 8 towels, total. We spent more time than we would have liked doing laundry on vacation. Three out of the four bedrooms had no mirrors, so getting ready was difficult and there was only one trash can per floor outside the bathroom. The unit on the bottom floor has no closet and only one wobbly chest of drawers. The twin bedroom has a closet, but no chest of drawers and no area to place your items. The kitchen had VERY few pots and pans. To make dinner, we bought extra plastic ware and a pan from target. Additionally, the plates were sticky, cracked, and/or dirty. Lastly, many items are in severe need of repair. Every single sliding door in the basement room (there are only sliding doors) did not close well – they either got stuck or did not close all the way. The door to the bottom unit simply would not close. The master bathroom toilet malfunctioned, and there was no cold running water. On a final note, the porch patio and cushions were dirty. While this house is located near the beach, I would not recommend this unit to anyone, unless they didn’t mind the aforementioned issues, or the many caterpillars we found throughout the house, including the beds.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It is through guest feedback that we are better able to prepare for future guests. We are sorry to hear that you felt that your stay was less than ideal as that is definitely not the experience we wish to create for our guests. While it is true that properties all across the area have been struggling to stay cool this summer, a vendor who is anything but polite is certainly not how we wish to be represented and we will be looking into this situation to make sure it is dealt with appropriately. We will also be sending a property manager over to the unit to make sure the appropriate number of pots and pans are available in the kitchen and everything is in working order. However, in this type of situation, we would like to encourage guests to let us know if things are missing/damaged so that we can bring replacements for you to use during your stay. This is a great house, quiet neighborhood, very short way to the beach, less crowded beach at #25 entrance, we just loved it! Our only disappointment was no tub, all beautiful showers but a tub is always nice after a long sandy day.
